We hear it all the time, "They have about 3-4 cubic meters of waste. What is it going to
cost?
Here is how you calculate the cost:
Mixed waste such USDA/APHIS regulated, USCG, plastic, paper, wood, metal, etc. -
$263/cubic meter
Simple calculation example:
Ship has 3 cubic meters of MIXED WASTE such as plastic, food, oily rags, industrial
waste. This would fall under the category of 'mixed waste': $263 x 3 = $789 total cost.
How we would do it. The waste would be packed into a 1 cubic meter cargo bag. The
cargo bags would be offloaded using a crane.
Note: We have a minimum of $300 in Houston, Galveston, Freeport, Beaumont, and Port
Arthur. The minimum goes to $1000 for Corpus Christi and Lake Charles.
Why would we have a minimum?
We send a three men crew, with enclosed truck, equipment, and supplies. Insurance,
fuel, cost of vehicle, and salaries force us to charge a minimum.
Sec. 330.400 Regulation of certain garbage.
(e) Garbage that is commingled with regulated garbage is also regulated garbage.
Industrial waste - is waste that requires special treatment and handling. This is generally engine room waste
such as oily rags, sludge, and slops. We charge more for this type of waste because it must be transported to
state regulated industrial waste landfills. This type of waste has to be transported in TXDOT approved drums with
lids, and rings. We can supply drums, rings, and lids for $46.00/each or if the vessel has their own, the price for
this is $200/drum.
